AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Seniors are among the county’s most vulnerable population when it comes to housing. With rent increasing at a rate of more than 6% in a year, many seniors on fixed incomes are simply unable to keep the pace. The median monthly income for residents is just $1,400, leaving a gap between market housing costs and available resources.

League House has been filling this gap by providing seniors affordable apartments for eligible low-income residents who pay just 1/3 of their income for rent and utilities. They are able to live out their years with peace of mind knowing their rent will remain steady year-after-year as it is tied to their income. Founded in 1947, Social Service League of La Jolla has been providing housing with 100% private and charitable funding.
